Richard Nankin and Rosemary Cousin run Grand Ridge Organics – certified organic producers with the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA).
Grand Ridge Organics farm is located on 10.5 acres of land adjoining the Upper Tarwin River in the Strzelecki Ranges. Under an agricultural license, Richard and Rosemary manage 8.5 acres along the upper Tarwin River, which has been re-vegetated with native trees and shrubs to provide a much-needed wildlife corridor and habitat for native flora and fauna.
At Grand Ridge Organics, Richard and Rosemary grow certified organic fruit and nut trees, fresh organic produce including vegetables, garlic, chillies and tomatoes, and organic flowers. They also hand-make a range of delicious jams, marmalades, pickles and preserves using their own produce. Their pure-bred Australorp chickens lay truly free-range eggs.
As Richard and Rosemary say: “Our aim is to give back to the earth more than we take, leaving more for future generations. We know healthy ecosystems have abundant life; happy animals produce good food and all life forms deserve a good quality of life, without disease, pain or discomfort and with dignity in death.”
